COLUMBUS CENTER SITE
Work Activities During Suspension
Following is a list of work activities performed at Columbus Center during the period of March 21 to present:
- Work To Make Site and Work Zones Safe
JFW and Subcontractors demobilized equipment and cleaned up work zones to secure site and implement a site safety program during suspension period.
- NSTAR Duct bank Completion and Restoration of Sidewalk-Cahners Way and Stanhope
Zoppo Corporation completed the installation of the NSTAR duct bank from Cahners Way and tied in to the existing NSTAR Manhole. Zoppo back filled the ductbank and restored the concrete sidewalk along the north side of Cahners Way.
- Installed Temporary Snow Fencing
JFW installed the temporary snow fencing along the Right-of-Way (ROW) from Parcel 16-19.
- Complete Observation Wells
Haley & Aldrich and Geologic Inc. installed the level loggers and calibrate the railroad observation wells south of Track 2 and in Parcel 17.
- Fan Trip Wire Relocation-East Side (Amtrak Side)
Amtrak Engineers on site with HNTB oversight to complete their portion of the Fan Trip Relocation work east of the CSX railroad property limit in Parcel 17.
- Demobilized Grout Plant-Austin Round Parcel 17
G. Donaldson was on site to demobilize the grout plant from Parcel 17. Work included the removal of the boxes encasing the grout lines on the Berkeley St. and Tremont St. bridges.
- Demobilized Drill Shaft Equipment from parcel 18/Empty Slurry Tanks in Parcel 16
Hub Foundation on site to demobilized the drill rig and drill shaft equipment from Parcel 18. Relocated the excavator from Parcel 18 to Parcel 16. Emptied the Parcel 16 slurry tanks.
- Signal Bridge Removal/Demo of Signal Bridge Footings
Removed the signal bridge tower and demolished the footings for the signal bridge at Parcel 17.
- Pull-back of Cortes St. Fence
McCoy Fencing and JFW Subcontractor re-located 80 ft of fencing along the south side of Cortes St. including (1) 10 ft gate. This relocation gave back (5) parking spaces on the north side of Cortes St.
- Amtrak Dwarf Signal Relocation Parcel 17
Amtrak Engineers on site with HNTB oversight to install the dwarf signals at Parcel 17.
- Fan Trip Relocation-West Side
MEC Electricians and CSX Engineers on site with HNTB over sight to install new conduit and the new junction box for the west end relocation for the Fan Trip Wire.
- Scaffolding Removal Parcel 18
JF White Subcontractor removed the scaffolding at Parcel 18.
- Amtrak Right-Of-Way Clean Up
JF White Subcontractor on site to clean the Amtrak ROW from halfway through Parcel 17 through Parcel 19.
- Demobilization of Slurry Tanks and Excavator from Parcel 16
Hub Foundation removed their slurry tanks in Parcel 16 on 23 JUL, 25 JUL and 28 JUL08. Excavator was removed on 31 JUL08.
- Re-Striping Traffic Lines (I90EB), Repair of Reflector Paddles & Lane Closure Signs on I90 EB/WB
JFW Subcontractor was on site to sweep and re-stripe the traffic lines on I90 EB. Work included replacing damaged reflector paddles and re-erecting lane closure signs on I90 EB and WB. Approximately 11,904 LF of white and 6,974 LF of yellow lines re-striped on I90 EB.
- CSX Right-of-Way Clean Up
JFW Subcontractor on site to clean the CSX ROW in Parcel 16 and 17. G.Donaldson on site to remove hoses and drill casing pipes.
- Clean-up and Preparation of Construction Material Removal from Parcel 16-18
a. JFW Subcontractor on site with (1) Labor Foreman and (4) Laborers to remove debris and weeds from the work zones in Parcels 16-18. Labor crew consolidated and stacked construction material in Parcel 16 for removal.
b. JFW Sub on site with labor crew to continue to remove weeds from work zones, repair/replace any damaged green visual fence screening on the project site, continue to consolidate and stack construction material in each Parcel in preparation for removal from job site including the removing of tarps covering soil piles on Parcel 16, and the re-securing of privacy on all Parcels. Work included the removal of the project site trailer in Austin Rounds Parcel 17 on 05 SEP08
c. JF White has removed remaining construction related material and supplies from Parcels 16-18 off site, including the removal of the 6 mini-power centers.
d. JF White has cleared all construction debris, stone and granite piles on Parcel 16 and 17.
- Fence Gate/Repair-Re-secure fencing on Parcel 16 Stanhope and Cahners Way
McCoy Fencing on site to repair the gate and approximately 20 LF of fencing at the corner of Stanhope and Cahners Way.
- Sweeping and Re-Striping Traffic Lines on I90 WB & Arlington St. Ramp
JFW re-striped all temporary pavement markings on I-90 Westbound and Arlington St. ramp (Eastbound completed 28 Aug 08) Subcontractor completed this work on 18 SEP08.
- Signage
To provide more visibility for local restaurants STIX and 33 Stanhope, new signage has been installed around the perimeter of Parcel 16.
ON-GOING WORK
- Track/Support of Excavation (SOE) Monitoring
Monitoring has been ongoing during the suspension period by Feldman Surveying.
- Project Place Site Clean Up
Project Place schedules once per week (4) workers to come to the project site to clean and sweep the areas adjacent the project site (outside of the project fence).
- JF White Weekly Site Clean Up, Debris Removal, Weed Control
JFW on site with (4-5) labor crew, including foreman to remove any debris and weeds from work zones, repair/replace any damaged or graffiti painted green visual barrier screening, visually inspect for any damage and repair/replace of any damaged green reflector paddles affixed to the jersey barriers on the MTA roadways and ramps within the job limits, re-secure all loose privacy fencing on all Parcels and Inspect all Parcels to ensure all gates are locked/secured and remove any fall hazards or unsafe conditions.
- Watch All Corp (2x week) Rodent Control
Watch All Corp. provides rodent control and trap clean-up for Parcels P16 through P19.
- JF White Weekly Inspection of all Parcels
JFW on site with (3-4) labor crew, including labor foreman to inspect all Parcels and all gates are locked/secured and to continue to remove any fall hazards or unsafe conditions.
- Parking
No parking of personal vehicles in any of the work zones including Parcel 17.
- Coordinate the renewal of the City of Boston Sidewalk Rental and Parking Permits
- Coordinate the ordering of police detail if required to support the monthly site maintenance work
SCHEDULED WORK
· Repair to north wall of Massachusetts Turnpike starts November 3, 2008
