To the communities of Columbus Center: Back Bay, South End, Bay Village, Ellis Neighborhood:

The developer, working with their consultants, The Beal Companies and The Related Companies, continue their efforts to confirm the continued viability of this complex project.  Needless to say, the recent economic turmoil has made this analysis more challenging, as it has with all development projects.  As a result, discussions with potential financial sources are much more challenging, and have caused a delay in our ability to make final recommendations.  In the meantime, since our meeting with the Columbus Center Construction Committee in the Fall, much has been accomplished to improve the conditions on the parcels, including expending several hundred thousand dollars on the clean-up and restoration efforts.

Most recently, in observance of 'Boston Shines'  on April 25, the following work was done on the parcels:

-Removal of Jersey barriers from Parcel 19 along Marginal Street;

-The fence on Cahner's Place has been moved back and the roadway surface has been patched;

-Fixed and replaced torn screens on fencing around parcels 16,17,18,19; and

-General cleanup around the sites, including trash/litter pick up and sidewalk cleaning.

We remain fully committed to maintaining the community process and look forward to following-up with you soon.  Please feel free to contact us directly at any time if you have any specific questions or comments about the project.

Thank You.
